It's a shocking photo, but as an addition to your cooking staples, I promise you that you will never regret buying a couple of jars of this for your kitchen cupboard:
It adds a lovely fresh garlicky and gingery warmth to everything and I'm going through JARS of the stuff - add it to stir fries, stews, curries, marinades.....ANYTHING that likes a bit of garlic!
If you're inclined, tell the world what YOUR Hero Product is - could be anything - kitchen, hair care, drain cleaner..... but it's got to be something that you have welcomed to your home like a long-lost lottery winner :-)

BTW - did you get a card yesterday? I did. But I'd told Tartarus that we shouldn't bother this year. He has spent 12 hours going through his luggage aboard his ship looking for a carefully-hidden card That Does Not Exist.

I didn't buy him a card this year. In fact, after the Isle of Man Fiasco of last Thursday, he's lucky to have escaped the country with his life. But more of that on Monday :-D

ReplyDeleteas for garlic, i'm polish and would get immediately excommunicated if i didn't use fresh garlic. FACT.
ginger - buy root, wash well, dry very well and stick in a ziploc bag in the freezer. as needed, remove from freezer and use a plane grater to grate it into whatever. stays fresh, doesn't turn into little mystery turds and lasts forever!
so i'd have to say that the plane grater is the best thing in my kitchen. will grate nutmeg, garlic, frozen ginger, chocolate, parmesan and all manner of lovely things!

I got this bottled chilli sauce from Swaziland called Swazi Fire, and now I use it in everything. It's fecking hot. Another staple in the looby pantry is Sasinsbury's Easy Ginger (which I once gave as a birthday present to this utterly sextastic female friend of mine who has the most beautiful long ginger hair).

DeleteI have a jar of the plain garlic of that brand (same price as a jar a quarter of the size from the 'posh ingredients' aisle of the same supermarket!), Dunns River Jamaican everyday seasoning and Encona chilli sauce. They are my 3 staple solutions for when I need to pep up a recipe!

DeleteMy Polish vegetable seasoning (which I have run out of atm so need to get some more) It's similar to Swiss Bouillon powder, so I'm using that atm. Also there is always a jar of lazy garlic in the fridge. I use fresh as well but the lazy stuff is handy for quick dins.
