I am very lucky. I have some exceptionally creative friends and one of them is the lady who made this for me, Di Sandland.
She makes them in a variety of metals - and they are VERY reasonably priced - given that you can have whatever you want etched inside to make your piece of jewellery unique and meaningful.
....and Tartarus is home. So far it's going OK. He's tidied two rooms and the shoe cupboard and has currently taken his motorbike for a spin to Inverary. Hence my appearance here on the blog when I should REALLY be outside doing something IMPORTANT like weeding.
....and I have to tell you that his tiny lordship, Nibbles is 'not well.' Sonshine has been prepared. There have been tears (mainly mine) but today Nibbles ate some pea shoots and pouched a large lettuce leaf, so even though he may have had some sort of a stroke, it's not affected his appetite.
... and I'm going ahead with the chickens. Watch this space.
So - tell me what the postman has brought YOU this fine day? Doing anything nice at the weekend in all this SUN?!
Oh Ali I'm so excited about your feminist chickens - will they object to laying eggs though? Is not the very word laying an affront to them? Perhaps they will prefer to think of it as 'expelling' eggs, which are only a symbol of the cock-dominant orthodoxy! Let us hear more!
ReplyDeleteSunny weather has got my husband dusting off his leathers too, but thankfully not attempting any tidying. I'm crossing my fingers for Nibbles! xxx
They will have to lay eggs or else it will be the pot for them :-D I like the expelling eggs idea. I dread to think what words TSB, Looby and Legend will come up with for it though lol!

Moi?
Deletethe postman brought me an impulse purchase on ebay! it's an orogold facial peeling which retails for about six gazillion dollars but which i snagged for a mere 28 clams (plus shipping). i don't really need it and it's still 28 clams, but the thought of "having saved" about 150$ fills me with a pleasant if irrational glow.
ReplyDeletealso, the stuff is the fashizzle, making my face feel like the bum of a very soft skinned french baby.
and now i'm off to work because i'm tough that way. can't wait to tell those bastards that i'm leaving for school - and THAT fills me with a very pleasant and rational glow.
have a great weekend, ali!
oh, and that bracelet is beeeooooteeeefooll!
Deleteoooh that sounds MOST interesting. You must tell me how it all turns out!!!!
DeleteIt is BEAUTIFUL. I love cuff bangles. It is A LITTLE UNFAIR that you have some many nice silvery bracelets.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I think tidying up is just nesting for him. Like he isn't properly home if he hasn't brought things to order.
Poor Nibbles :(
You're right, it is just nesting for him. Irritating for me though :-D
DeleteI've got another bracelet on order from a US outfit. Will put up piccy when it arrives.

The post just brought a new notice from the IRD (Inland Revenue) so I'm not exactly chuffed.
ReplyDeleteI reckon nibbles is toast. Better start digging the hole in the garden now, or get an extra bin bag.
Pretty bangle, I wonder if I could get one inscribed "Don't look at me, my wife tells me what to wear and what to do"
It's not sunny down here in NZ. We're moving into winter. It's about 5ºC in the morning and evening, but a balmy 18ºC at lunchtime. A bit weird after the Scottish continual cold/grey/wet winters.
I cannot imagine what it must be like to have nice weather most of the time. So unfair.
DeleteIt is actually too hot for my vampiric sensibilities and I am currently ensconced in a shaded bedroom, typing away!
I'll be forced out into the garden soon enough i suspect!
Only bills and a love letter from Joanna Lumley. Ok, I'm fibbing about one of them, but I'm not telling which one.
ReplyDeleteI'm playing tonight at a huge Seattle Folk Festival. Fortunately, the stage is next to the beer tent. Wish me luck. xx
Can't wait to read all about the gig! despite proximity to beer tent - I bet it's fab!
Deletehow utterly beautiful.......my week went from rubbish to crap so hopefully the only way is up.......hoorah for the chooks just don't get egghausted.....this is just the eggcellent start!!x
ReplyDeleteso - how was your weekend, better than your week, I'm hoping!
DeleteToo many egg jokes in one paragraph! ROFL!
What a gorgeous bangle! You're right, very talented lady :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your chicks ;) Not having a cockerel is definitely a good idea! I'm still emotionally scarred from being attacked by one when trying to collect eggs when my dad had them thirty odd years ago - vicious buggers :o
My friend The Mad Woman from Kilmarnock is afraid of birds now for the same reason. On holiday with her once, I had to run in front of her, in manner of excited toddler, to scare off seagulls.
DeletePeople thought that I was mad :-)
That is such a gorgeous bracelet. And I can't wait to hear more about the chickens!
ReplyDeleteI've worn it non-stop since I got it. It was only about £30 - including the little inscription!!! Fab pressie for someone special!
DeleteDi really is talented!! Good luck with the chickens!! What breed are you going t be getting? Probably warrens, but if you want any help, that wee book tells you ALL you need to know and I'm no that far away (just a call) so you can call and ask if you want to ken anything that might stump ye about 'em ;)
ReplyDeleteI'll be getting whatever it is the farmer's got! I really do fancy the Chicken King's original lot of buffs, but my chooks are coming from elsewhere. Yes, probably Warrens. Still got some ground prep to do first before I get the coop ordered.
DeleteWill bell you if I get confuzzled!
